Mike Ryan, the agency’s chief emergency specialist, told the WHO executive board on Monday.

He said that Kovid-19 infections in Southeast Asian countries were growing at an alarming rate. Infections and deaths are increasing in parts of Europe and in the eastern Mediterranean.

“Based on the best statistics we have so far, about 10 percent of the world’s population is already infected with the coronavirus,” Ryan said. The infection rate is different in different countries, the infection rate is different in rural and urban areas, the infection rate is also different according to age. The point is that large populations around the world are still at serious risk.

“It just came to our attention then. The disease still continues.”

The first outbreak of the coronavirus occurred in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late December last year. Which has now spread throughout the world.

WHO wants to send a team of experts to China, the birthplace of the virus, to learn more about the disease. Ryan said the agency had sent a list of experts to the Chinese government to ask for permission.
