Most of the district, including the metropolis of Rangpur, has submerged due to 10 hours of continuous rain. About 50,000 people in so many cities have been flooded. From the main thoroughfare to the alleys of the neighborhood, everything has been submerged in water.

The house was not left out either. Somewhere water from the waist, somewhere water from the knees.

According to the Rangpur Meteorological Office, 433mm of rain was recorded from 10pm on Saturday to 10am on Sunday, which is unprecedented in the last 100 years. This hostile weather and rains are likely to occur in a day or two.

Shyama Sundari and KD Canal are the only resource to alleviate the city’s waterlogging. The city’s drainage system is broken. Since there is no opportunity to drain the water, the journey continues on the water.

City dwellers say they haven’t seen such rains in 25-30 years. The catastrophic floods of 1986 did not cause such flooding.

The fire service has been working in different areas of the city since the morning to rescue the trapped people.

It can be seen on the ground that most of the water has entered the lower areas of the city. Most roads are submerged in three to four feet of water. Shapla Chattar, Hajipara, Chamrapatti, Karanjai Red, Senpara, New Senpara, Adarshapara, Babukhan, Kamarpara, Jummapara, Keranipara, Almannagar, Hanuman Tala, Munsipara, Mulatol Amtala, Ganeshpur, Babupar, Shabpar, Lalbag. , Kamal Kachna, Mahiganj, Kalabari Darshana, Mordan Mor, Medical Pakar Mata, Jalkar, New Jummapara, Khatkhatiya and at least 100 other neighborhoods are flooded. Thousands of families have fled their homes and taken refuge in low-lying areas due to the intrusion of water. Their lives have become chaotic. The suffering has reached its peak due to not being able to cook at home. Since most hotels are closed, they have a hard time buying food.

The electricity supply has been cut off due to heavy rains in different places. People leaving in an emergency do not have transportation. You also have to pay extra for what is available.

The Teesta, Karatoya, Ghaghat and Jamuneshwari rivers in the district have been flooded again. Water flows over the danger line at points Dahlia and Kaunia in Teesta. Heavy rains and lightning have caused extensive damage in various parts of the district. Agricultural land, crops and ponds have been submerged.

Rangpur Meteorological Office assistant meteorologist Mostafizur Rahman said: “The rain may continue for another day or two. However, if it rains like this, most parts of the city are in danger of being submerged.

According to sources from the Water Development Board and the Fire and Civil Defense Service, one of the city’s most beautiful drainage canals, the Shyama Sundari canal, has been submerged in rainwater, leaving people stranded. However, when the water level in the canal drops, the water will actually come down from the flooded areas through the drainage system.
