Abdullah’s father, Chagir Hossain, said: ‘My wife died three months ago due to illness. Then Abdullah (6) and Afsan (18 months) were raised by my two daughters. A week ago our Muslim son-in-law came to visit our house in Barguna.
He said that on Thursday afternoon, Moslem went to visit his in-laws in the Dalbhanga area with his two sons Abdullah and Afsan. Later in the evening, he learned that after killing his eldest son Abdullah by drowning him, Muslem had floated his body in the Bishkhali River. Furthermore, the locals arrested Afsan’s youngest son in the same process while trying to kill him.
Chagir added, ‘Muslim is the son-in-law of my eldest daughter. While I was in Dhaka, my daughter and grandson did not receive adequate support. So about a month ago my daughter came to my house with her son. So Muslem also came a week ago and tried to take her baby away. But we refuse to hand over my grandson to Moslem. Because of this, Moslem caused this incident.
“I came to take my son,” said Moslem, who confessed to killing his brother-in-law Abdullah. But my wife and father-in-law would not let me go. Angered by this, I took my brother-in-law Abdullah and Afsan on a trip with a plan to kill them. Then we first killed Abdullah by throwing him into the lake and floating his body in the Bishkhali river. Then I tried to kill Afsan in the same process.
Immediately after the incident, the locals arrested the Muslim killer. Upon receiving the news, the police went to the scene around 8:30 last night. Muslem also gave details of the murder to the police. The police rescued Muslims from the locals and inspected the place. He was later arrested and taken to the police station.
