Dhaka: The government will shut down the entire country for a week in the next two to three days as coronavirus infection is on the rise.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain made the remarks in a video message from his home on Saturday (April 3) at noon.
When asked about what will be shut down in the shutdown, the state minister of public administration told banglanews that the institutions that provide our emergency services, such as the DC office, the UN office, the fire service, the disaster management office and newspapers will remain open.
“We want to limit the movement of people,” he said. So that people do not leave home.
The state minister said factories would remain open during the closure, adding that workers would work there multiple shifts in accordance with health regulations. If factories are closed, people from the most infected districts will go home. This will increase the number of infections in those districts.
He said government and private offices would remain closed during the shutdown. Courts and all kinds of markets will be closed.
When asked if public transport will be closed in the lockdown, the state minister of public administration said: “We are working on this. When you issue a notice in this regard, it will be clearly mentioned there. There will be a notification tonight.
When asked when the lockdown will begin, the state minister said the issue would be mentioned in the notification. We inform in advance so people don’t get stuck anywhere else. You can take the preparation.
Earlier, in a video message, the state minister of public administration said the government was considering a week-long lockdown on two-thirds of the day to curb the fast-growing corona infection.
The government is moving toward lockdown as corona infections continue to rise in recent days. All educational institutions have been closed since March 16 last year due to corona infection.
When the first corona infection was observed in the country on March 6 last year, there was a 7-day lockdown from March 26 across the country. All vehicles were closed except for emergencies at this time.
