Mohammad Mofazzal Sadat, a student at Dhaka University (DU), was arrested in a case brought against him for spreading an offensive image of a student on Facebook. Shahbagh police arrested him on Sunday.
Shahbagh Police Station OC Mohammad Mamun Aur Rashid confirmed the arrest. He said a student had filed a case with the police under the Pornography and Digital Safety Act. The defendant was subsequently arrested. Now, the student has been in preventive detention for three days.
It is known that at the beginning of the corona outbreak, a student had a love affair with Sadat, a sophomore in the political science department. After that, Sadat collected some offensive photos of that student.
Meanwhile, Sadat recently uploaded offensive photos of the student on Facebook when there was a breakdown in their relationship. Later, the girl’s friends found out about the matter and approached the police. Subsequently, the police arrested the accused student.
The head of Dhaka University, AKM Golam Rabbani, told Jugantar that such behavior from any Dhaka University student is not desirable in any way. Such activities are completely unacceptable. The police have been asked to take the necessary action in this incident.
