Nuruzzaman Biswas won the Pabna-4 seat by a large margin

The Awami League candidate Nuruzzaman Biswas won the Pabna-4 constituency by-election (Ishwardi-Atgharia) with 239,924 votes. He obtained more than 230,000 votes than his closest rival. His closest rival, Habibur Rahman Habib, advisor to the BNP president and convenor of the Pabna district BNP, obtained 5.56 votes. The Jatiya Party candidate, Rezaul Karim Khokon, also garnered 3,064 votes.

Returning officer Abdul Latif Sheikh announced the results at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office at 9:30 pm on Saturday.
Voting took place non-stop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 129 centers in Ishwardi and 45 in Atghari. The total number of voters in the two upazilas was 3 lakh 61,112 people.

After hearing the results, the freedom fighter Nuruzzaman Biswas thanked the people of Ishwardi and Atghari in a short reply and said: “Once again, the victory of the pro-liberation forces has been achieved here.”

The Central Organizing Secretary of the Awami League and the coordinator of this election, SM Kamal Hossain, congratulated and wished the people of Ishwardi and Atgharia for winning the candidate ship. He said development of the area would continue when Sheikh Hasina’s government candidate wins.
