It may be mentioned that Nur and his associates were marching to Matsya Bhaban from Shahbag in protest at the rape case against Nur and six others on Monday night. At that time, the police arrested Nur and his six accomplices in front of Matsya Bhaban in the capital. He was taken to the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) hospital for treatment around 10pm. Nur and his accomplice Sohrab were taken to the DB office around 12:15 pm. As Nur was being taken away in the second phase, student rights activists tried to resist and chanted slogans in front of the car. Nur’s wife was hanging out with her young son in the car. Later, the police loaded them with sticks, took them from them, and took Nur away. Later, Nur was released from the DB police office at around 1:45 pm.
After being released, Nurul Haque Nur confronted the media in front of DB’s office. “We don’t understand why they arrested us and why we were released,” he said. It seems to be done to intimidate people ”.
Earlier, a student from Dhaka University (DU) presented the case at the Lalbagh Police Station on Sunday evening. A total of six people have been charged in the case. Among them, Nurul Haque Nur has been mentioned as an accessory to the rape. Meanwhile, the court has set October 8 for the presentation of the investigation report of the case. On Monday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara accepted the statement in the case and set the date for the presentation of the report.
