There is a lively discussion among the students on the Dhaka University campus ই Nurul Haque Nur has become popular with students through beatings. At present, since there is practically no opposition party in the field of politics, the ruling party regards Nur’s activities as anti-government activities and has started to stop him.
Nurul Haque Nur gained popularity among young people by capitalizing on the realization of student rights. While leading the quota reform movement, he was repeatedly attacked and attacked by the BCL. His popularity became apparent after he was elected vice president of the Central Student Parliament of Dhaka University (Daksu) last year after 26 years. He defeated the president of the Chhatra League.
According to the constitution, the term of VP Nur has expired in Daksu. This time he has focused on building a new political party. He is also giving speeches on various programs on student, youth and labor rights and national issues. As part of building the party, he has formed separate rights councils with workers, youth, students, and expats. He said the new party would be announced later this year under the slogan “Rights of the people, our commitment.”
However, with these aspirations and dreams, new cases have been dropped on Nur’s path. Now, six cases hang from her neck. Last Monday, a student at Dhaka University accused Nur of helping her in the rape case. Later that night, the police arrested him twice and released him. The student presented another case Tuesday against six members of the quota movement, including Nur, for kidnapping, violation and digital law. Previous cases have been brought against Nur for allegedly rigging the elections, stealing mobile phones, defaming him and spreading rumors to destabilize the situation of law and order. In these cases, complaints by Noor’s organization are made for the purpose of tarnishing his image at the behest of special forces for fear of popularity. However, it is also said that by doing all this, Nur’s popularity increases. Its power is also being analyzed.
Concerned sources say the government has backed down as the Nurs have formed a tumultuous movement for quota reform. The quota system has been lifted in first and second class government posts in compliance with demand. In addition, the government was forced to accept the movement of students in place of safe roads, for which Nur has provided support. Curiosity and questions have arisen in the minds of many about the announcement of the formation of Nur’s political party with the youth. They say that although BNP is a great party in power politics, it is now defeated in case of attack. They are not in the public program. However, Nur has recently conducted youth programs on various topics. They are also preparing for a great movement organizing youth. He has also announced that he will run for deputy in the by-elections in Dhaka-18 and 5 electoral districts. Nur is taking attention away from the field of non-partisan politics.
Analysts say that BCL’s monopoly was reduced when Nurul Haque Nur Daksur was elected vice president. Many of the students who did not participate in the Chhatra League joined Nur. VP Nur became the opponent of the Chhatra League as he expressed strong opinions in various incidents and there was no political opponent.
Some BCL leaders, who did not want to be named, said that while Nur was not that important at Dhaka University, the BCL had made him important by presenting him to the media. Nur has become a “hero” every time he has been hit. In the Daksu elections, the Chhatra League won 23 out of 25 seats, but was unable to defeat Nur as vice president. They said: ‘Nur has become popular with students through beatings. Now attacks and trials are gaining importance in national politics. Nur has not accomplished much except leading a section of youth in the quota reform movement. Although Daksu was elected vice president, he was unable to play an active role.
Nur told Kaler Kantha: “The Chhatra League has opposed me because the power in the university has been reduced. The youth have been furious with the organization. The government is trying to suppress the student movement with lawsuits and attacks out of fear. However, it is not possible to repress the students, the government has backtracked in the reform of the quotas and the safe road movement. Nur said he was attacked eight times in Dhaka and outside of Dhaka after becoming vice president and three times before becoming vice president. The ruling Chhatra League has led all the attacks. None of them were tried.
The same number of cases against Nur: Daksu took place on March 11, 2019. A case was brought against 40 people, including Nur and Pragatisheel Chhatra Jote’s vice presidential candidate Liton Nandi for allegedly snatching the ballot papers. of Rokeya Hall and insulting the president. Marjuka Raina, a fourth-year student from the dance department, filed a case with the Shahbagh Police Station on March 11 after her rights were restricted.
Then on December 10, Vice President Mujahid Kamal, elected from Sir Salimullah Muslim Hall, brought a case against Nur to the BCL nominated panel. Nur was charged with bidding, extortion, unethical recommendations, and lobbying based on Nur’s conversation with a person on his mobile phone to obtain an offer for a relative.
Nurul Haque Nur was attacked on December 22 in Daksu Bhaban. A case was brought against Vice President Noor at Shahbagh Police Station on charges of attempted murder, wallet theft and mobile phone theft. The case was brought by former Vice President of Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall’s branch, DM Sabbir Hossain of Shaheed.
On December 26, a case was brought against Noor under the Digital Securities Act for religious incitement and propaganda. Arnab Hod, a student at Jagannath Hall, brought the case to the Dhanmondi Police Station against Sanjit Chandra Das, Chairman of the Chhatra League of Dhaka University, for spreading false and defamatory rumors and information.
During the quota reform movement in 2016, the residence of the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University was attacked. Nur was also charged in that incident.
Nurul Haque told Nur Kaler Kanth: “All the cases are baseless. These cases are politically motivated. An opinion has been formed with us, but an attempt is made to suppress and corner that opinion. We are not enemies of anyone. But the Awami League is trying to corner us. They offered money, they tried to buy; But since he failed, he is trying to suppress it through assault cases. The organizing secretary of the Awami League, BM Mozammel Haque, told Kaler Kantha that the ruling party was harassing the ruling party with bogus cases for the purpose of political harassment. Some people blame others by setting themselves on fire, so is Nur’s condition. There is nothing wrong with harassing you with false accusations. Rather, he is speaking on behalf of foreign agents. Speak on behalf of foreign conspirators. Baby, I have no experience in politics. Say what you want. Now there is no VPGiri, after two years they won’t find him even with a bowl. ‘
