Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek said that about 40 percent of our population is under 18 years of age. Neither of them will need a crown mark. No country in the world will vaccinate people under 18 years of age. He said they were not given a trial.
The Health Minister told reporters after inspecting the vaccine laboratory at the National Control Laboratory of the Department of Drug Administration on Sunday. At that time, senior officials from the ministry and department were present.
Responding to a question from journalists, Zahid Malek said: “20 percent of our population will receive the Covid-19 vaccine.” This number is about five and a half crore. I hope everyone is vaccinated next June. We have made all kinds of preparations in this regard.
“Our medicine laboratory has been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO),” he said. As a result, our laboratory obtained international recognition. The quality of the drugs we have here is constantly checked and everything is done to maintain that quality. He said that the covid vaccine will also be tested in this lab in the future.
In response to another question, the Minister of Health said that an agreement has been reached with the Serum Institute of India on the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. Hopefully, Bangladesh will get the vaccine in late January or early February. As long as AstraZeneca gets approval from the World Health Organization, Bangladesh will receive that vaccine. At the same time, all measures related to vaccines have been taken within the country.
Zahid Malek further said that cold boxes have been arranged for the vaccine transport system, the storage system and the maintenance of the cold chain. There are currently nine vaccines in the country. Those ticks are tested in this lab. The Corona vaccine will be added in a few days with nine shots.
