After that, he performed the Asr prayers with his friend at the largest mosque in Burimari’s land port, Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat. Mentally unbalanced Jewel told the mosque keeper Jabed Ali: “There are weapons on the mosque shelf. I will check.” Then he started looking at the books of the Qur’an and Hadith on the shelf. At that time, Jewel called Hossain Ali, the owner of the decoration shop next to the mosque, as Jewel was talking incoherently. Upon learning from the mosque servant, Hossain Ali began beating Jewel. They were then locked in a room.
Meanwhile, Jabed Ali and the decorating merchant continue to preach that they have insulted the Holy Quran. When the news spread, local UP member Hafizul Islam grabbed Jewel’s shirt collar and took Jabed Ali and Hossain Ali to the Burimari Union Parishad office and beat them there as well. At that moment, the agitated crowd hit Jewel and her partner. Upon hearing the news, Patgram Upazila President and Upazila Awami League Babul General Secretary, Upazila Officer Nirbahi Kamrunnahar Begum, and Patgram OC Sumon Kumar Mohant Police Station rushed to the scene and attempted to rescue Jewel and her friend. . At one point, they fell into the wrath of the agitated crowd. Later, UNO and the president of Upazila took refuge in the National Bank in the land port of Burimari with Jewel’s friend.
On the other hand, the gates and swing doors of the Parishad Union were smashed and hundreds of people took Jewel out to strike. At one point, he set his motorcycle on fire and threw Jewel into that hot fire. As a result, he was burned alive and died. Even then, the agitated crowd stood there and chanted various slogans until his entire body was engulfed in flames. When some policemen arrived at the scene and fired a few bursts of blank shots and tear gas, the policemen and the OC rushed to the safe haven. Several policemen were injured. Jewel’s body burned in the fire for about two hours. Later a large number of policemen came and tried to control the situation but by then there was nothing left except 2-3 bones of Jewel.
According to intelligence sources, it is very sad that an innocent person was burned alive and cremated. The investigation found no evidence of Jewel’s disregard for the Quran.

According to intelligence sources, the late Jewel’s father, Wazed Ali, and the father-in-law of the Upazila president, the late Awami League leader and MP Abed Ali, were close friends. Furthermore, detectives also discovered that the husband of Jewel’s older sister, Hasna Akhtar Lipi, was a relative of Abdul Mannan, the principal of a school in Kaliganj Upazila. The late Jewel had visited his older sister’s home in Kaliganj many times before and had met the president of upazila several times from there. As a result, the upazila president also knew that Jewel was mentally unbalanced, according to intelligence sources. However, he was unable to explain this to anyone while beating Jewel. The fact that he knew that Jewel was being beaten at the time is also proof.
Shahidunnabi Jewel was beaten to death by a mob in front of Burimari Union Parishad in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district on Thursday night (October 29). Later his body was set on fire by the mad mob.
On Saturday there have been three cases in this regard. These include murder cases brought by Jewel’s family, vandalism cases brought by the president in connection with the vandalism of the Union Parishad office and another case brought by police in relation to attacks on officials of the police and administration. At least 25 people have been named in the cases and between 500 and 600 people in the area have been charged.
