Rahim and Rahmat Ullah, two defendants arrested in Noakhali for torturing a housewife by stripping her, have appeared in court. They were brought before the court of the Begumganj court judge Amli Mashfiqul Haque and held in pre-trial detention for 7 days. The judge said he would issue an order at 5 pm after the hearing. However, there was no lawyer for the defendants in court.
Sohail Rana, Assistant Deputy Inspector, Government Registry Officer (GRO), said that when Rahim and Rahmat Ullah were presented at Begumganj Amli Court No. 3, the judge heard the request for pre-trial detention and awaited the order.
The victim, a housewife, filed a case under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act and the ICT Act on Sunday (October 4) accusing nine people of the incident. The Begumganj police and the RAB-11 have so far arrested 4 people, including the main defendant Badal in the incident.
On Monday morning, RAB-11 arrested Badal, the main defendant in the case, from Dhaka and Delwar, the head of the local Delwar force from Narayanganj.
Begumganj police arrested Rahim, 20, from the Khalpar area of Joykrishnapur village in Eklashpur Union District 9 on Sunday afternoon and Rahmat Ullah, 41, from the same area at night.
Incidentally, on the night of September 2, five young men, including Delwar, Badal, Kalam and Abdur Rahim, the head of the Delwar force, tortured the housewife by stripping her naked in the Khalpar area of Eklashpur Union in Begumganj. On Sunday (October 4) at noon, 32 days after the incident, the video of the torture went viral on Facebook. Two cases were registered in this incident on Sunday night. Two of them have also been arrested.
As can be seen in the video, the perpetrators snatched the clothes from the housewife and began to say something against her. She desperately tried to defend herself and called the attackers ‘parents’, holding them by the legs. However, they did not stop recording the video. Instead, one of the attackers kicked him in the face and kicked him in the face. Then he started hitting me from time to time with a stick. At that moment, expressing joy in spreading the incident on Facebook, another person shouted ‘Facebook’ ‘Facebook’.
