BNP MP Harunur Rashid has said that BNP has not opposed the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Bangladesh.

He said that no anti-Modi or Modi slogan could come from BNP, no such statement was made. Harun also raised the question of why the BNP is involved with the Hefazat movement based on Modi’s visit.

He made the remarks while participating in an unscheduled discussion in Parliament on Saturday (April 3).

Earlier, the high-ranking deputy of the Awami League, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, spoke in Parliament about the arrival of Narendra Modi in the wake of violent incidents in different parts of the country. At the time he accused the BNP of being involved in the ongoing move.

Aaron said: ‘In the context of the issue that has been raised in this Parliament, we want to know what freedom of speech will be. 50th anniversary – Our Golden Jubilee. In this golden jubilee we give the body as a gift. Have we been able to celebrate the Golden Jubilee peacefully somewhere in the country?

In response to Sheikh Selim’s statement, he said: “No anti-Modi slogan or the arrival of Modi from BNP – no such statement was made. It was not discussed. As you have requested, suspend all programs in Dhaka from 18-26 March. That is why we have paid a limited tribute to the National Memorial. I have also paid tribute to the shrine of Ziaur Rahman in a very limited way. Because Corona is growing. That is why the programs have been limited from our place. Can’t say with any evidence that on March 26 … I’ve been watching here. ‘

Harunur Rashid said that if there was any anti-Islamic activity nationally and internationally, there was a movement against him at the Baitul Mukarram mosque. In France, when the Prophet (PBUH) was mocked. The protest was organized from the Baitul Mukarram mosque.

Addressing the government, he said: “I could have argued with those who protested. When there was a conflict in the country over sculptures, the government had argued with Hefazat. They used to argue that foreign guests were coming and that I should stop the protests. At that time case, why is BNP involved?

The BNP deputy also said: “If freedom of expression stops today, there will be terrorism, extremism and dissent.” In a real sense, democratic practices must be liberated. Places of expression are closed today. Those rights must be guaranteed. I don’t want to escalate the controversy. Today’s crisis is the crisis of democracy. The nation is in this situation today because of this crisis.
