Faridpur-4 Independent MP Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury, aka Nixon Chowdhury, requested advance bond in High Court in a case brought by the Election Commission alleging violation of the electoral code of conduct.
The petition was filed in the corresponding section of the Superior Court on Sunday (October 18). After the High Court of Justice Sheikh Mohammad. A bench of Judge Zakir Hossain and Judge KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal set Tuesday (October 20) for the hearing.

Awami League candidate Kauser Hossain won the by-elections for the office of president of Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad on October 10. He was loyal to former deputy and member of the Awami League presidium Kazi Zafar Ullah. But a couple of weeks before the election, Kauser left former MP Zafar Ullah and joined current MP Nixon Chowdhury.
On the day of the by-elections, some of Kausar’s supporters went to cast false votes, but the magistrate in charge prevented them. Regarding the incident, MP Nixon Chowdhury called Upazila Nirbahi’s Executive Magistrate and Officer Jasmine Sultana and abused her. After announcing the results later in the evening, MP Nixon also made negative comments about the deputy commissioner. The Election Commission filed a case against Nixon Chowdhury at the Charbhadrasan Police Station in Faridpur on Thursday (October 15) for allegedly violating the Electoral Code of Conduct.
Bhanga, Sadarpur and Charbhadrasan are the three upazilas of Faridpur-4. Nixon Chowdhury lost the Awami League candidate for this seat in the 2014 and 2016 parliamentary elections and was elected a Member of Parliament. Kazi Zafar Ullah, a former Member of Parliament and member of the Awami League presidium, was the Awami League’s candidate for the two seats.
