After the UK, a new strain of coronavirus has been found in Australia. So far, two people have been diagnosed with the virus in the country.
Australia confirmed the existence of this rapidly expanding new crown strain on Monday, Reuters reported.
Previously, on December 14, a new strain of coronavirus was detected in the UK. That is why the country is imposing new restrictions before Christmas.
In New South Wales, Australia’s most populous state, six people from abroad and those in quarantine were diagnosed with the coronavirus on Sunday, with authorities saying two of them were infected with the ‘fast-spreading’ coronavirus.
“Several new wreaths have arrived from the UK,” Kerry Shunt, the state’s health director, told reporters.
“Everyone in the UK is in a 14-day hotel quarantine and there is no risk to them,” said Paul Kelly, chief medical officer.
Although Australia has closed its borders since last March, it has not suspended flights to Britain.
