New facilities for government employees have been announced. From now on, government employees and their families will be able to use ambulances and mortuary freezing vans for Rs.500. The government has developed a policy in this regard.

The secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Sheikh Yusuf Harun, signed the ‘Policy of use of ambulances and freezing vans-2020’. The policy specifies how, how much money will be rented for the ambulance and mortuary freeze van, and in what process it will be rented.

According to the policy, the tariff will be Rs 500 for 20 km from Dhaka city and its surroundings and Rs 3 per km thereafter. After using the vehicle, the vehicle tracker attached to the vehicle must pay the invoice within three days in the code specified through the treasury invoice based on the actual distance traveled. The original copy of the invoice must be sent to the Government Department of Vehicles to collect the no-claim form. Income received will be treated as non-tax income.

According to the Ministry of Public Administrations, the Department of Public Transport does not have a clear policy on the use of mortuary freezing vans and ambulances that transport the sick, so a policy is needed for the proper use of vehicles. This policy has been formulated with this in mind.

The policy states that the eligible user can use the spouse, parents, father-in-law, son-in-law, minor brother, single / divorced / widowed sister, grandparents and widow and children of the child. In case of use of the freezer van, cabinet members, members of parliament, all employees from different ministries / departments will be treated as users and the user’s family members will be covered by this facility.

In the case of ambulance use, Cabinet members, all employees of the Ministry of Public Function and its subordinate departments / agencies, employees of other ministries / departments of the ninth grade or higher will be considered users. Members of the user’s family will be covered by this facility.

The policy states that if an ambulance or freezer truck is required, the user or any member of his family can request it in a specific way. In order to provide a 24-hour service, the Transportation Commissioner will enter a hotline number and organize the request online. The Commissioner of Transportation will assign the appropriate personnel to provide this service. If the number of applicants is more than one at the same time, the decision of the Transportation Commissioner on priority will be final.

In addition, he said that ambulances and freezer vans can be used anywhere in the country with the approval of the Government Department of Vehicles. Freezer vans and ambulances cannot be used for any purpose other than transporting dead bodies or sick people. In areas where the roads are not suitable for vehicle traffic, there is a risk of damage to vehicles, it is not possible to travel normally. In case of any damage to the vehicle in case of authorized movement, the applicant in question will be obliged to pay compensation according to the rules and regulations in force.

The policy also stipulates that the applicant must pay the required fuel cost until the ambulance and freezer van are returned to the Department of Government Vehicles after obtaining it from the Department of Government Vehicles.

The policy also stipulates that users will have to pay ferry and bridge tolls for ferry crossings or the use of bridges.
