All educational institutions in the country must maintain all assignments made by students for the 2020 academic year. This measure has been taken to evaluate educational activities at the national level and cover the deficit of students from last year. The government will soon give a guideline to educational institutions in this regard.
If you want to meet the Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Prof. Syed Golam Md. Farooq told the Bengali Tribune: ‘We are working in two ways to address the learning deficit of students. One is that each educational institution will collect all assignments from students. Next year you will fill in the gaps by looking at the collected assignments and determining how many weaknesses or gaps the students have. The teachers themselves will identify the students’ problems. And the second is that we will try to see where our country’s education has gone in the last year by bringing in allocations at the national level. This nationwide assessment will inform our policy. ‘

The Director General said that there will be no weakness or gap between students at one school and students at another school. It will be different. Therefore, the assignments will be evaluated at the national level.

The government announced the closure of all educational institutions in the country on March 18 when corona patients were identified in the country on March 8. After that, the educational institution has been declared closed until January 18.

Later, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education started online education activities. Lectures on television and radio from Sangsad Bangladesh also continued. Educational institutions continue their online education activities using various applications. In addition, teachers continue to teach via mobile phones.

But due to the long closure of the educational institution, the initiative was taken to continue educational activities by preparing a short 30-day study program starting on November 1. Educational institutions began collecting assignments for high school students as of November 1. Thematic assignments are given and collected according to NCTB guidelines, maintaining hygiene and social distance.

In accordance with the directives of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, the teachers will identify the weaknesses of the students through the evaluation of tasks and will take the appropriate measures to achieve the desired learning outcomes paying special attention to them in the next academic year. The principal of the institution will make the necessary arrangements to save assignments, including evaluating teachers.

All Upazila / Thana regional assistant principals, district education officials, and secondary education officials were asked to coordinate the implementation of the directive.

Incidentally, the two ministries canceled HSC exams, JSC-JDC exams, and primary exams and ibtedayi to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and keep students safe.
