Due to the coronavirus infection, school authorities are handing out free textbooks to students and their parents without a festival this time.
The book will be distributed in various primary and secondary schools in Dhaka and outside of Dhaka from Friday morning January 1. Students and parents come to school wearing masks following Corona’s hygiene rules and carrying books. Parents go to school and carry books on behalf of elementary students. However, in the case of high school, students are checking out books from school.
Due to corona infection, not all students will receive new books in one day. This book will be distributed in a few days.
At around 10:30 am, I went to Government Laboratory High School in the capital and saw some students coming home with books. One of them is Anas Bhuiyan. His home is in the Collegegate area of Mohammadpur. She comes to school with her mother to buy new books. Anas said, this time he has gone up to sixth grade.
Anas says with a smile that she is very happy to receive a new book on the first day of the year. It feels better to be able to come to school after many days. Today he has met many friends at school.
Tanzim Alam and Yamin Arafat, students from the same class, said much the same thing.
Atahar Hossain, a teacher at the school, told Prothom Alo that only a handful of second and sixth graders receive books today. The books for these two classes will be delivered for three days.
