Recalling the role of BRAC founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed in forming this alliance, he said: “Abed Bhai used to tell all of our NGOs and CSs to work together for the development of the country. He is the one who told us to go to a platform with issues of policy formulation in the interest of the country’s development ”.

Rasheda K Chowdhury said that 400 NGOs have been added to the new alliance.

“We have to work together in the fields of education, women and health, giving priority to human rights issues,” she said. We have to face together the obstacles that lie ahead in these cases today ”.

BRAC will act as the secretariat of the new alliance.

Asif Saleh, executive director of BRAC, said in a webinar: This initiative aims to bring together various organizations and social movements on one platform. “

Advisor to the Prime Minister for International Affairs, Gowher Rizvi, was the main guest, while the Director General of the Office of NGO Affairs, Rashedul Islam, and the economist Wahid Uddin Mahmud were the special guests.

Gowher Rizvi told the organizers: “If you want to advocate, you need evidence first. There are many policy documents in written form, but they don’t look back. Because they don’t have solid evidence. So I will say that if you want to work on various social issues, you need solid evidence. ”

Wahiduddin Mahmud said: “We have several organizations (NGOs) here. Everything from your registration process to the legal framework is different. They must have responsibility within the control of the government.

“But the government has to give them freedom. The government has nothing to fear. We have to keep an eye on them so that their full potential is not interrupted.”
