Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize after US President Donald Trump.
According to a report by the Jerusalem Post, Netanyahu was nominated because of his agreement to normalize relations with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. He was appointed by a member of the Italian Parliament (MP).
Last Tuesday, Paolo Grimoldi, an Italian MP and leader of the Anti-Migrant League party, nominated Netanyahu for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.
Paolo Grimoldi is known as a close friend of Israel. He has visited Israel many times. However, to date he has not met with Netanyahu.
Former Israeli communications minister and leader of Netanyahu’s Likud party, Ayub Qara, said in a tweet that Netanyahu had been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for normalizing relations with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
