Netanyahu took a bag full of dirty clothes on a free overseas laundry trip

Royal receptions, lavish homes, and expensive gifts – these are very common for guests on state trips. But the Israeli prime minister and his wife are one step ahead. They reportedly took a bag full of dirty clothes on a trip abroad just to wash it for free. The influential Washington Post published this information on Thursday, citing the White House Guest House staff.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accompanied by his wife Sarah Netanyahu, visited the United States last week to negotiate an agreement with Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.

A US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Netanyahu (the prime minister and his wife) was the only one who brought a bag full of dirty clothes to clean. After a few visits, they sure do it on purpose.

However, the Israeli embassy in the United States has claimed that the Washington Post report is unfounded. Such bizarre claims are being made to divert attention from the success of its deals with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

The Israeli embassy said in a statement that it was not dry cleaned during the visit. Only a couple of shirts were washed before the meeting. And the suit of the prime minister and Sarah Netanyahu was ironed. In addition, the two pajamas worn by the Prime Minister on the 12-hour flight from Israel to Washington were washed.

The Washington Post did not say how many suitcases Netanyahu’s couple took to the United States. But Obama and Trump administration officials have confirmed that the Israeli prime minister has cleaned bags full of dirty clothes more than once on previous visits.

Earlier, during an official visit in 2016, Netanyahu was reported to have packed four or five suitcases with dirty clothes. Two years ago, Netanyahu filed a lawsuit against his office and the Israeli attorney general for keeping the private laundry bill secret.

Netanyahu was accused last year of spending thousands of pounds of government funds on luxury food. The Israeli prime minister has recently been charged with three counts of corruption.
