The mystery of the death of a private university student while undergoing treatment at the capital’s Anwar Khan Modern Hospital has yet to be solved. The family alleges that the student was raped.

The case alleges that Mortuza Raihan took the student on a scooter from Mirpur to Arafat’s home in Lalmatia at around 4 pm on January 26. Later, Arafat, the student, and Raihan got together and went to the ‘Bambusut Restaurant’ in Paradise Tower, Sector 3, Uttara. There, the defendant Neha, Shafayet Jamil (22) and other defendants drank alcohol and forced the victim to drink alcohol.
At one point when the victim fell ill, Raihan took him to Nuhat’s house and told him to take him to his girlfriend’s house in Mohammadpur. There, Raihan raped the victim. When the victim became ill and vomited the night after the rape, Raihan called another friend, Asim Khan. Asim arrived the next day and admitted the victim first to Ibn Sina and then to Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital. The victim died after receiving life support for two days.
Another classmate, Arafat, who had been drinking with him, died at the city’s General Hospital.
Police arrested Mortuza Raihan Chowdhury and his girlfriend Nuhat Alam Tafsir in the incident. In addition, another defendant named Shafayat surrendered to the court. He has been sent to jail through court. Police arrested Neha, the latest defendant in the case, at a home in Azimpur.
