Naval officer beaten: case brought against Haji Selim’s son

Dhanmondi has filed a case against three or four unidentified individuals, including the son of Dhaka-6 MP Haji Selim and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) District 30 Councilor Mohammad Erfan Selim and Haji Selim’s driver Mizanur Rahman, for allegedly hitting and threatening a naval officer. Police arrested two defendants in the case, including the driver Mizanur Rahman.

According to eyewitnesses and the police, Wasif Ahmed, a naval officer, was buying a book and riding a motorcycle with his wife at the Dhanmondi Kalabagan sign in the capital on Sunday night. MP Haji Selim’s car collided with his motorcycle. Wasim got off the motorcycle on the side of the road and stood in front of the car. When he tried to talk to them, some people in the car abused him with obscene language. They threatened to kill him and his wife. The number of the car labeled “Member of Parliament” is Dhaka Metro-G 11-5736.

Maryland. When Wasif Ahmed Khan tried to talk to them by introducing himself as a Navy lieutenant, two men got out of Haji Selim’s car and beat him. At one point, the officer tried to defend himself. Haji Selim’s son and his bodyguards abandoned the car after the incident and broke its license plate.

A video of the incident has been released on social media. Wasim Ahmed was seen bleeding. The video claims that he was beaten and had his teeth broken, but the GD did not mention this.
