He was also a member of the National Commission on Education led by Dr. Kudrat -e-Khuda in 1972 after the independence of Bangladesh. His research on the history of Bengali literature is particularly remarkable.
Professor Anisuzzaman has won multiple awards for his contributions to education and literature. He received the Bangla Academy Literary Prize in 1980 for his contribution to essay research. For his contribution to education, he was awarded the second highest civilian honor, the Ekushey Padak, in 1985. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honor, Padma Bhushan, for his contribution to education and literature. . In 2015, the Government of Bangladesh awarded him the highest civilian honor, Swadhinata Puraskar, for his contribution to literature. He also won the Anandabazar Prize twice in 1993 and 2016, and the D.A. from Rabindranath Tagore University in 2005. Illuminated.
