The government has started publishing the final list of freedom fighters with the names of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders at the top. The minister said the list of those involved in the accusations and other complications would be finalized in June. The list published by the ministry has highlighted the number of freedom fighters by division. Of these, 36,038 are in the Dhaka division, 30,053 in the Chittagong division, 12,573 in the Barisal division, 18,630 in the Khulna division, 10,056 in the Mymensingh division, 13,899 in the Rajshahi division and 15,156 in the Rajshahi division. from Rangpur and 10,264 people in Sylhet Division.
The minister said a list of 191 martyred intellectuals was published based on the recommendations of a committee of eminent researchers in the country. More lists of martyred intellectuals will be published step by step after verification and selection.
In response to a question, the minister said that the list includes the names of the murderers of Ziaur Rahman, Khandaker Mushtaq and Bangabandhu as heroic freedom fighters, adding that the names of freedom fighters who had worked against the spirit of the liberation war, including the murder of the father of the nation would be written next to their names.
