The woman became the plaintiff in the case and filed a case at the Begumganj police station on Sunday night mentioning the names of nine people.
The accused are- Badal, Md. Rahim, Abul Kalam, Israfil Hossain, Saju, Samsuddin Sumon, Abdur Rob, Arif and Rahmat Ullah. They all live in Begumganj.
Among the accused, Rahim and Rahmat Ullah have been arrested in Noakhali.
A RAB-11 team arrested the main defendant Nur Hossain Badal (20) from Kamrangirchar in Dhaka on Monday morning and Delwar Hossain from Shimrail in Narayanganj on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at around 2.30pm on Sunday.
Weapons recovered from Delwar Hossain
Among them, Delwar’s name is not on the case statement, but there are allegations that he is also involved in the incident. A foreign firearm was found in his possession, RAB said.
At the press conference, RAB commander Khandaker Saiful Alam said that after the torture video went viral, the defendants tried to hide in different locations. Delwar, the ‘Delwar Bahini boss’ of Begumganj, was arrested while searching a bus at a checkpoint in Shimrail on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at around 2.30pm on Sunday. A pistol with two rounds of ammunition was recovered from him. Later in the morning, according to his confession, the main defendant in the Nur Hossain alias Badal case was arrested in a plastics factory in the Kamrangir Char area.
Delwar was involved in illegal weapons, extortion and drug trafficking, said RAB official Saiful.
He said: “Delwar’s forces are involved in extortion, drug trafficking and terrorism activities in the area. Armed terrorists identified in the Delwar area. The people of the area are terrified of them. There are two cases of extortion against Delwar. “
In response to a question from reporters, Saiful said that there may be an intention to extort money showing fear of spreading the video through social media. However, it could not be confirmed who was behind the viral video.
