Dhaka: In Begumganj upazila of Noakhali, the High Court has ordered the removal of video footage of the incident of torturing a housewife by tying up her husband and stripping her at home. The BTRC president has been instructed to remove the video footage by leaving a copy on a CD or USB stick.
In addition, the Noakhali Police Superintendent has been ordered to provide all kinds of security for the woman’s family.
The incident was reported to the court on Monday. Mojibur Rahman Mia and Judge Mohi Uddin Shamim approved the order along with the virtual bank rule.
At the same time, the court has established a committee to investigate whether the police were negligent in taking the victim’s statement about the incident. The district social services officer led by the Noakhali Additional Deputy Commissioner and the head of the Chaumuhani Government SA College has been asked to investigate and appear before the Clerk of Superior Court within 15 business days.
The officer in charge of the Begumganj Police Station was ordered to appear in court on October 28 indicating the most recent status of the criminal case.
The High Court wanted to know why appropriate departmental and legal action would not be taken against the officers of the Begumganj Police Station and the Begumganj CO for their negligence in protecting the woman and taking swift action against the wrongdoers.
The Interior Minister, the Deputy Commissioner of Noakhali and the Executive Director of Begumganj Upazila have been asked to respond to the rule within two weeks.
Earlier, in Noakhali Begumganj Upazila, Supreme Court lawyers notified the High Court of the incident of torturing a housewife by tying up her husband and raping her in their home.
ZI Khan Panna and Abdullah Al Mamun brought the matter to the notice of the court.

On Sunday (October 4) at noon, 32 days after the incident, a video of the housewife being tortured went viral on social media Facebook. This shocked the local administration. In the last 32 days since the incident, local defendants Delwar, Badal, Kalam and their associates have been harassing the family of the abused housewife for some time. At one point, when her entire family was forced to leave their homes, the entire incident remained hidden from the locals and the police administration for a long time.
