A group of young men has tortured a 38-year-old woman in the Eklashpur Union of Begumganj Upazila in Noakhali by stripping her naked. The woman was not spared even after repeatedly calling the father of the perpetrators.
A video of the torture went viral on social media Sunday afternoon, causing commotion in the district. Tonak Nare Administration. The police arrested a young man named Abdur Rahim (24) on suspicion of being involved in the incident. Abdur Rahim was arrested in Eklashpur around 6:30 pm. He is the son of Sheikh Ahmed Dulal from Jayakrishnapur village. He is the second in command to Delwar’s local force chief Delwar, police said.
Meanwhile, the tortured woman and her relatives closed their houses and fled the house in fear of the tortured terrorists. No statement was received from her relatives.
The woman is known to have been married three years ago. Within days of the marriage, when her husband remarried, communication between them stopped. On the night of September 2, the ex-husband entered his home to meet the woman. Delwar, a local drug dealer and chief of the Delwar force, saw the matter. Delwar and his men entered the woman’s home around 10 p.m. last night and then began beating her, claiming that she had committed immoral acts with the man. At one point, a video was taken of the beaten and stripped woman.
The 1 minute and 37 second video, which was posted on Facebook, shows one of the torturers removing a young woman’s clothes. At that moment, the woman tried to cover her body with sheets, mattresses and various clothes on the bed. But some of the torturers removed their clothes everywhere. A young man repeatedly kicks her in the face. It bites in different places on the face and chest. A young man repeatedly touched and struck a woman’s genitals. Another young man strangled her and tried to kill her. The woman was not spared even after repeatedly calling the father of the perpetrators.
After viewing the video, several people said that the Delwar local force chief Delwar and his second in command Badal, Kalam, Saifuddin, Rahim and Sumon and 7-8 other people had tortured the woman. The locals demanded the arrest of Delwar and his men.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Begumganj Model Police Station, Harunur Rashid Chowdhury, admitted the truth of the incident and said: During preliminary police questioning, Abdur Rahim admitted his involvement in the incident.
Noakhali Super Md Police Alamgir Hossain said: ‘One of the people involved in the incident has been arrested. They are trying to stop the rest. No matter how powerful those involved in this heinous incident are, they will be subjected to the law and receive exemplary punishment.
