This is how the historic Babri Masjid was destroyed on December 6, 1992.
All 32 defendants, including veteran BJP leader LK Advani, were acquitted in the Babri Masjid demolition case. A special CBI judge in Lucknow acquitted them for lack of evidence. However, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has decided to go to the High Court against the verdict.
In announcing his decision to go to High Court, Jafariab Jilani, a prominent lawyer who is a member of the board, said that witnesses described how the defendants were giving provocative speeches from the platform on the day of the Babri Masjid demolition. The CBI special court ruled against the evidence. Muslims will appeal against this verdict. He indicated that the Muslim Law Board could also appeal.
Jilani said the defendants were released despite having evidence against them in various sections. Those who were affected by the destruction of Babri Masjid and those who were eyewitnesses, Muslims on both sides will appeal. If necessary, the Muslim Personal Law Board will be a party in this case, he said.
After the verdict, BJP President JP Nadda greeted Advani and Joshi. Many more have congratulated the high-level leaders of the BJP. In addition to welcoming the verdict, the BJP camp was overwhelmed.
On the other hand, Congress has criticized the verdict, saying that it is contrary to what the Supreme Court has said in the Ram Janmabhoomi case and is against the Constitutional judgment.
It can be mentioned that on December 6, 1992, the centuries-old Babri Mosque in Ayodhya was destroyed by mad devotees of Ram. A case was brought against 49 people in this incident. The court charged 32 people there. Of these, 17 died. Today, after almost 27 years, the verdict of that case was delivered.
