Dhaka: Police arrested National Film Award-winning music director Shawkat Ali Emon in a case of torturing his wife. On Saturday (September 27), the court ordered that he be sent to jail.
Earlier in the evening on Friday (September 25), Ramna’s police arrested him at his residence in Eskaton in the capital. He was handed over to court on Saturday.

It is known that on 20 September, Shawkat Ali Emon’s wife, Ridita Reza, filed a case with the Ramna Police Station under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act. Emon was arrested in the same case.
Ramna (SI) Police Deputy Inspector Tahmina Akhter said the court had ordered Shawkat Ali Emon sent to jail after his arrest in a case brought by his wife. The case is under investigation.
Shawkat Ali Emon married Ridita Reza, an announcer for a private television channel, on February 26 this year. This is your third marriage. After divorcing his first wife, actress Bijri Barkatullah, he married a dancer named Tithi Kabir on December 6, 2012.
On July 15, 1995, he married model and actress Bijri Barkatullah. They parted ways in late 2012.
