A week after the body of the late Nabi Hossain was recovered, two young men were arrested in Narsingdi and Kishoreganj on Friday night, the Police Investigation Bureau (PBI) said.
The young detainees are Ashik Mia (21) and Sumon Mia (24).
Patia police recovered the body of a young man from the side of the Chittagong-Cox Bazaar road in the Harikhain area of the Kusumpura union of Chittagong Patia upazila on 18 October. Police said the body was wrapped in a towel around his neck and his leg was severed.
PBI Chittagong District Police Superintendent Nazmul Hasan told bdnews24.com that after recovering the body on October 16, PBI identified the young man using fingerprints. The house of the young man named Nabi Hossain is in the Puranchar area of the Agangar junction of Bhairab.
After recovering the body, Nabi Hossain’s brother identified the body in Chittagong and filed a lawsuit against five people at the Patia Police Station. The PBI arrested Ashik from Narsingdi and Sumon from Kishoreganj on their own initiative. The private car used in the murder was also recovered.
SP Nazmul said: “The author of this murder is a young man named Sabbir. He is the nephew of the murdered Nabi Hossain. His home is also in Bhairab. In exchange for 60 lakhs, Sabbir hired an assassin to kill Nabi Hossain. “

Regarding the cause of the murder, police officer Nazmul said: “Sabbir’s father is an expatriate. On that occasion Nabi Hossain became involved with her mother. Later they ran away and got married. Unable to accept Sabbir’s case, he planned to assassinate Nabi Hossain.
“That is why Sabbir made a Rs 80,000 deal with a man named Tushar. As part of the plan, the arrested and accused fugitive tried to kidnap Nabi Hossain from Bhairab on October 15 in a minibus. But they failed. Like the first day it failed, they kidnapped Nabi Hossain the next day in a private car instead of a minibus. ”
Nazmul, a PBI official, said: “After the kidnapping, Nabi Hossain was strangled to death on the Comilla road on the way to Chittagong. He also cut off Nabi Husain’s leg to ensure his death.
“After the murder, they left Nabi Hossain’s body in a private car and went to Cox’s Bazar. On the way, the body was dumped on the side of the road in Patiya.”
He also said that they left Cox’s Bazar and returned to Bhairab.
Meanwhile, the police also seized the private car used in the incident, as well as the minibus it had tried to hijack the day before. The operation to catch Sabbir, Tushar and other fugitives continues, SP Nazmul said.
