Munnar, who played for the national team from 1986 to 1996, led Bangladesh to the four-nation soccer championship in Myanmar in 1995. That is the country’s first international title to win.
Munna, who earned the title of ‘The King Back’ as a defense watchdog, spread the light across the country’s borders on the Calcutta team jersey, East Bengal. The former star soccer player left the country in February 2005 at the age of 37 due to kidney complications.
“Munna would have done more if she had survived,” said Survi Monem, Munna’s wife, who attended the auction house’s Facebook Live. So someone texted me and said, “If I can do something for the country’s people by auctioning off Munnar’s shirt at this time of coronavirus, that’s why I took this initiative.”
Tayyab Hasan Samsuzzaman, who has been refereeing in the international arena for 18 years, became the first South Asian referee to play in the SAF final in 2013 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The shirt Tayyab Hasan managed to play in the match was also auctioned. The base price was set at two lakh rupees. At the auction, Nasim Faruk Khan Mithu of Satkhira bought the shirt for 5 lakh 55,000 rupees.
