The length of the Mujib year has been extended by about 9 months as the programs taken by coronavirus could not be carried out correctly within the stipulated time.
This period has been extended from March 16, 2020 to December 16, 2021.
The cabinet department issued a notice on Monday. The notification was subsequently published in the form of a bulletin.
It has been said that to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the great architect of independent Bangladesh, the government declared the period from March 18, 2020 to March 26, 2021 as the Mujib Year. Due to the global Covid-19 epidemic, the programs taken to celebrate the Mujib Year could not be carried out in a timely manner. That is why the government announced the extension of the Mujib Year period from March 16, 2020 to December 16, 2021.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on March 17, 1920 in Tungipara in Gopalganj. On the occasion of his centenary of birth, the government took the initiative to observe ‘Mujibvarsha’.
But when the corona epidemic broke out in the country in March this year, the country observed a public holiday for six consecutive days from March 26 to May 30 to prevent the spread of the virus. That is why the various programs adopted for the Mujib Year could not be carried out during this period.
