Police arrested a man named Mufti Alauddin Jihadi for allegedly insulting the late Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, the emir of Hifazat-e-Islam, on social media Facebook. The Fatullah Model Police arrested him in a case brought by Khatib Harunur Shid of Deobhog Madrasa.

He was arrested in the Mahmudpur area of ​​Fatullah on Sunday morning. Mufti Alauddin is known as the top leader of the Jihadi Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat.

Aslam Hossain, officer in charge of the Fatullah Model Police Station, said that a case has been brought against Alauddin Jihadi under the Digital Security Act for insulting Allama Shafi on Facebook. He was arrested at his home in Mahmudpur. He has been sent to court for a 5-day pretrial detention request.

Meanwhile, on the news of Mufti Alauddin Jihadi’s arrest, his followers held a protest in front of the Narayanganj court and demanded his release. In the same way, in front of the National Press Club and in different parts of the country, Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat and his student organization Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Sena organized human chain demonstrations and protest.
