Former MP Jalal Uddin Talukder
The investigation report into the murder of Jalal Uddin Talukder, a former Netrokona district MP and a heroic freedom fighter, was released on Tuesday after eight long years. Durgapur Senior Judge Swarna Kamal Sen released the report in court.
According to judicial sources, various government intelligence agencies have published reports on the assassination of Jalal Uddin Talukder, former president and former deputy of the Durgapur Upazila Awami League. The report, which was later published, was dismissed due to objections raised by Shah Qutb Uddin Ruel, son of the plaintiff MP. Three years ago, the High Court ordered Netrokona’s Chief Judicial Magistrate to submit an investigative report. The investigating officer took the testimony of 40 witnesses in the case. But the investigation report was delayed due to the coronavirus.
Durgapur Senior Judge Swarna Kamal Sen read the report in the plaintiff’s presence on Tuesday afternoon. When asked if the complainant had any objections to the investigation report, the complainant expressed satisfaction.
According to the report, Ayesha Khatun, the second wife of Jalal Uddin Talukder, killed Jalal Talukder with her pistol (MP) due to a land dispute. He released the report Tuesday after convicting his second wife in the case.
Shah Qutb Uddin Ruel, the plaintiff in the case, said: “I request the concerned authorities to take legal action against those who have been trying to influence the case in different sectors for a long time.” I am satisfied with this verdict.
It is worth mentioning that former MP and freedom fighter Jalal Uddin Talukder was elected three times to the electoral district of Netrokona-1 (Kalmakanda-Durgapur). He was also shot dead in his room in Bagichapara in Durgapur upazila on September 25, 2012.
