Dhaka: Selina Islam, wife of Laxmipur-2 MP Kazi Shahid Islam Papul, arrested in Kuwait on charges of illegal acquisition of assets and money laundering, has surrendered in court and her daughter Wafa Islam has been released on bail.
They surrendered at the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayesh’s court on Sunday (December 27) and requested bail.
After the hearing, the judge granted them a provisional bond until February 11.
On December 22, Justice. Nazrul Islam Talukder and Judge Ahmed Sohail’s virtual high court requested their bail in advance and the High Court ordered them to surrender before December 28. According to him, they surrendered on Sunday afternoon.
On December 10, the Superior Court rejected their request for advance bail and ordered that they be delivered within 10 days. According to him, on December 20 they filed an application with the Superior Metropolitan Special Court. But in the meantime, the holidays began at court. They later filed a petition for correction in the Superior Court. He granted the request and ordered them to surrender to the vacation court before December 28.
