MP Habibur Rahman Mollah is dead

Desk time voice: Alhaj Habibur Rahman Mollah, MP from the Awami League party of Dhaka constituency 5 has passed away (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). He was 6 years old.

He last breathed at the Square Hospital in the capital on Tuesday (evening).

Awami League Joint Secretary General Bahuddin Nasim confirmed the information.

Habibur Rahman Mollah was born on January 26, 1942. He is a three-term Member of Parliament elected from the Dhaka-4 and Dhaka-5 constituencies.

Habibur Rahman’s Mollah was defeated in 1991 as the first independent candidate to contest the Jatiya Sangsad elections. He was elected first member of Parliament for the Dhaka-4 constituency in the general elections held in June 1996. In the 2001 general election, he lost the same seat to Nationalist Party candidate Salahuddin Ahmed.

In the 2008 general election, Mollah was nominated by the Awami League in the Dhaka-5 constituency and won the election. He was re-elected to Parliament in 2014 and 2016.
