Mourning the family of the deceased in a traffic accident in Mymensingh

The family mourns the death of seven people, including six members of the same family, in a head-on collision between a bus and a GNC autorickshaw at noon on Sunday (January 3) in Gachatala in Tarakanda upazila on the Netrokona-Mymensingh highway.

The deceased have been identified as Nizam Uddin (26) and Maulana Farooq Mia (25), daughter Julekha (22), Masuma Akter (20), 3-day-old son of Masuma Akter from the same village. Azim Uddin’s wife Jyotsna Begum (25) and GNC driver Rakibul (30), son of the late Abul Hossain from Charlakshipur village in Mymensingh Sadar.

Nayan Chandra Das, in charge of the Shyamganj Highway Police Outpost, said the victims were arriving in Purbadhala from Mymensingh in a GNC autorickshaw on Sunday afternoon. At that moment, a bus named Shahjalal coming from the opposite direction collided head-on in a place called Gachatala.

Six people, including the GNC driver, were killed on the spot. The bodies of the deceased were recovered and stored at the Shyamganj Highway Police Outpost and then handed over to the family of the deceased. The bodies of the victims have not yet arrived at the scene.

Meanwhile, Farooq’s mother, Ayesha Khatun, told local reporters that the baby was born at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital three days before her daughter-in-law Masuma Akter. The news from the boy from the hospital was that they were delighted. Now everything is over.
