BNP standing committee member and former minister Moudud Ahmed passed away. He died at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore at 7.30pm on Tuesday (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilahi Raziun). He was 61 years old.

Moudud Ahmed was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka in two stages due to chest pain and shortness of breath. There, the water froze in his lungs. He was later taken to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on February 1 from Evercare Hospital. His wife Hasna Moudud is in Singapore.
Mominur Rahman Sujan, Moudud Ahmed’s personal assistant, said Moudud Ahmed’s condition was critical in the ICU of a hospital in Singapore for the past few days. The water had been collecting in his lungs for 15 days. In addition to his kidney complications, they also increased.
Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP president’s media wing, told Kaler Kanth that there were no flights from Singapore to Bangladesh on Wednesday. In that case, Moudud Ahmed’s body can be brought into the country tomorrow, Thursday. And if a special flight can be arranged, the body will be brought into the country today. Colorful life: Moudud Ahmed is a colorful politician from the country. He was Minister of Justice, Prime Minister and Vice President. He is also one of the founding members of BNP. After Ershad imposed martial law in 1982, the politician was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a special military court. In 1975, Ershad became a government minister with that sentence in mind. Later, Moudud Ahmed became Prime Minister and Vice President. After the fall of Ershad, he was in the Jatiya Party until 1996. Shortly after, he returned to the BNP as if he were coming home. After the 2001 elections, he served as Minister of Law and Justice. Moudud Ahmed, who has a colorful political life, has chosen both the symbol of the sheaf and the rice plow. He was elected Member of Parliament five times from Companiganj de Noakhali.
Moudud Ahmed, the first postmaster general of Bangladesh, was the son-in-law of the daughter of the village poet Jasimuddin.
Moudud Ahmed was also close to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He was with Bangabandhu at the round table convened by Yahya Khan in 1971.
Moudud Ahmed was born on May 24, 1940 in Companiganj upazila de Noakhali. His father Maulana Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and his mother Begum Ambia Khatun. Moudud is the fourth of six siblings. He graduated with honors from the University of Dhaka and obtained a law degree from Lincoln’s Inn in London, UK. After completing his studies in London, he returned to the country and began practicing law in the High Court. He was working as a visiting professor at George Washington University.
Moudud Ahmad is the author of several books in English and Bengali. In some of his books, Nirmoh’s descriptions of the liberation war and Bangabandhu put pressure on his own party and circle.
Moudud Ahmed’s wife, Hasna Moudud, is the daughter of the village poet Jasimuddin. Their only son, Aman Mumtaz Moudud, died of dengue in 2015 at the age of 36. He also lost another son prematurely. Their only daughter Anna Kasfia lives in Norway with her husband and children.
His death was mourned by the Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, the Minister of Justice Anisul Haque, the Minister of the Interior, Asaduzzaman Khan, the mayor of the southern city, Fazle Noor Taposh, and the leader of the opposition in parliament, Raushan Ershad.
