The EC’s public relations director, SM Asaduzzaman, said a notice was issued imposing restrictions on the movement of vehicles before the polls.

It has been said that the motorcycle movement in the constituency will be closed from 12 noon on Thursday until 12 noon on Saturday. In addition, trucks and vans will not be allowed to go from 12pm on Friday to 12pm on Saturday night.

The EC has authorized the deputy commissioner and other interested authorities to enforce the ban.

However, subject to the permission of the Return Officer, this restriction may be relaxed in the case of rival candidates / their election agents and domestic / foreign observers.

In addition, journalists participating in election campaigns, election officials, law enforcement officials, election observers and ambulances, fire services, electricity, gas, postal and telecommunications vehicles will not be prohibited.

The ban can also be relaxed if necessary for vehicles traveling on national highways and delivering ports and emergency goods.

Following the death of MP Habibur Rahman Mollah on May 8, the EC gave a schedule for by-elections in the constituency comprising Demra, Jatrabari and Kadamtali.
