A three-day motorcycle ban has been imposed in the capital starting Thursday (October 15). The Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a notice imposing the ban on the occasion of the by-elections in the Dhaka-5 constituency to be held on Saturday (October 18).
Motorcycle traffic will be closed for a total of three days from 12 noon on Thursday (October 15) to 12 noon on Sunday (October 18), the circular said. Additionally, trucks and vans will be closed in the Dhaka-5 constituency from 12 noon on Friday (October 16) to 12 noon on Saturday (October 18). The EC has authorized the concerned Deputy Commissioner or other interested authorities to impose a ban on these vehicles.
The notification further stated that the ban can be relaxed in the case of rival candidates / their electoral agents, domestic / foreign observers subject to the permission of the Return Officer.
