It was learned that Momena Begum, the grandmother of the two children, filed a robbery and beating case against her daughter Wasima Begum and her husband Md. Tofail over a family dispute. The children’s parents have been in jail since last Friday in this case. Since then there has been no one to take care of the children. Two children have taken refuge in the house of Bangshal neighbors. Holding hands, the two brothers and sisters went to the court of Judge Md. Mamunur Rashid to ask for their parents’ bail.
But the judge did not grant bail to the parents of the two children. The court mourned a police officer on duty as the children cried inside the court.
Supreme Court attorneys Moniruzzaman Asad, Shishir Monir and Kumar Debul Dey brought the matter to the High Court today after the news broke in the media. After the hearing, the court ordered the immediate release of the mothers of the two children and, at the same time, issued a rule asking why their father would not be granted bail.
“We have approached the trial court following the order of the High Court,” said lawyer Shishir Monir. Court magistrate Mamunur Rashid said the Supreme Court had taken immediate action to release the children’s mother.
