A boy beat his mother and sister-in-law to death after they returned home after marrying their niece in Nangalkot, Comilla. His name is Chhayedul Haque Siki (26). The police arrested him. The incident took place at noon on Monday (February 8) at the home of a merchant in the eastern part of the village of Punjkara in the South Adra Union of the Upazila. At that time, two more people were injured, including the niece.

The deceased were identified as Nurjahan Begum, 60, wife of the late Chhayedul Haque and wife of Abdul Hai from the area, and Bhabi Nurun Nahar Begum Pushpa, 45, wife of older brother Azizul Haque. The name of the injured niece is Arju Akhter (28).

Chhayedul Haque Siki (28), son of Abdul Hai from Punjkara village in Adra South Union, was killed by his mother and sister-in-law.

According to police sources, the niece, who married for love, had a fight with her mother over having breakfast brought from her husband’s house. At one stage of the fight, Chhayedul Haque accidentally hacked and injured his mother and sister-in-law. To save them, Chhayedul Haque stole his niece Arju Akhter and hit him randomly. Later, the locals rescued her and took her to the Nangalkot Upazila Health Complex. Doctors on duty declared Mother Nurjahan and sister-in-law Nurun Nahar Begum Pushpa dead. Police recovered the body from the hospital.

Nangalkot OC police said. Bakhtiyar Uddin Chowdhury said that the murderer Chhayedul Haque Siki was immediately arrested in the village. The body will be sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy. During preliminary questioning, the defendant pleaded guilty to murder. The case is pending subject to receipt of the complaint.
