Five days after the incident, the National Revenue Board (NBR) has not taken any disciplinary action against him.

The Bangladesh Association of Executive Officers of Customs, Excise and BAT has organized a human chain and a demonstration demanding the immediate release of Lutful Kabir and exemplary punishment. A task force committee will be formed to investigate the incident in detail, NBR sources said.
Officials from the Khulna, Jessore, Benapole (Khukaev) Benapole Customs, Excise and VAT Executive Officials Association also organized protests and human chaining in protest at the incident of physical abuse, including abuse and vulgar language.

Protesters said Lutful Azam, Deputy Customs Commissioner, slapped an official at the Pangaon Inland Container Depot in Dhaka’s Keraniganj and tore up the file.
