Jamaat leader Maulana Delwar Hossain Sayedee, who was sentenced to death by the Appeals Division of the Supreme Court for embezzling funds from the Islamic Foundation’s zakat fund and evading income tax, was brought before the court. The court has set December 26 for the hearing of the case.
Judge Syeda Hosne Ara of the Dhaka Temporary Special Judges Court 1, established on the Alia Madrasa grounds at Bakshibazar in Old Dhaka, approved the order on Monday (December 6). Sayedee was heard in court on Attorney’s Day. Mujahidul Islam Shaheen.

Earlier, Sayedee appeared in temporary court around 9:30 a.m. The impeachment hearing in the embezzlement case would be held that day.
Delwar Hossain Sayedee and 6 others are charged in the embezzlement case. The rest are Mohammad Lutful Haque, former director of the Islamic Foundation, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, former president of the Mosque Council for Community Advancement, Mia Mohammad Yunus, chief secretary of the Council of Friends, Tofazzal Hossain, former president of the Center of Islamic Social Welfare and Mohammad Ali, deputy director of the Islamic Foundation’s mosque council. Among the accused, Delwar Hossain Sayedee is in jail. Abul Kalam Azad and Abdul Haq run away. The other three defendants are out on bail.
