The father of Ayesha Siddique Minni, who was sentenced to death with a full copy of the verdict in the Rifat Sharif murder case in Barguna, and the guardians of the other five convicts are now in Dhaka. Minni’s father, Mozammel Hossain Kishore, and others left Barguna for Dhaka to appeal to the high court after receiving a 429-page copy of the verdict around 6pm on Saturday.

Minni’s lawyer, Advocate Mahbubul Bari Aslam, told the Barguna court that Minni’s father received a full copy of the verdict around 7:30 pm on Saturday and left for Dhaka.

He will go to the courtroom of the Supreme Court attorney, attorney ZI Khan Panna, on Sunday morning with a copy of the verdict, the attorney said. However, when the journalist tried to contact Minni’s father directly, his phone number was found to be blocked.

Rifat Sharif murder case on September 30, Barguna District and Session Judge. Ashaduzzaman ordered the execution of six people, including Rifat’s wife, Ayesha Siddique Minni. It acquitted four defendants.

Those sentenced to death are: Md. Rakibul Hasan alias Rifat Faraji (23), Al Qayyum alias Rabbi Akon (21), Mohaiminul Islam Sifat (19), Rezoan Ali Khan Hridoy alias Tiktak Hridoy (22), Md. Hasan (19) and Ayesha Siddique Minni (19).

It is worth mentioning that Rifat Sharif (25) was beaten to death on June 26, 2019 in front of Barguna Government College by a crowd of 100 people. Later, a video of Rifat being hacked to death went viral on Facebook.

The next day, Rifat’s father, Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif, named 12 people and filed a murder case against five or six others. On September 1 of that year, the police presented an investigation report against 24 people, divided into adults and minors. Charged 10 adults and 14 minors.

On January 1, the Barguna District and Session Court of Judges filed charges against 10 adult defendants in the Rifat murder case. Testimony against 10 adult defendants began on January 8 and a total of 6 witnesses testified.

After hearing the arguments of both parties in the case on September 18, Barguna District and Sessions Judge Md. Asaduzzaman announced the verdict on September 30.
