Dhaka: Niaz Morshed, director of Mind Aid Hospital, who was arrested in connection with the murder of Assistant Chief Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anisul Karim, did not appear in court because he was ill.
Wednesday (November 11) Dhaka Abu Safian Metropolitan Magistrate. Adabar Farooq Mollah Police Station Inspector, the investigating officer on the case, briefed the Noman court on the matter.
At that time, he requested the issuance of a court order to present Niaz Morshed in court. According to the application, Niaz Morshed has been working at the Hospital of the National Institute of Neurosciences since October 4. He’s in treatment in the neurology department for pleasure. He suffers from waist-to-toe obesity. He was the director of Mind Aid Hospital.
The judge ordered that an arrest warrant be issued for Niaz Morshed if he is turned over to the court subject to recovery after treatment.
Meanwhile, the court on Tuesday granted seven days of pretrial detention to 10 defendants in the case. They are: Arif Mahmud Joy, Mind Aid Marketing Manager, Coordinator Redwan Sabbir, Chef Masud, Ward Boy Jobayer Hossain, Tanif Mollah, Sajeeb Chowdhury, Asim Chandra Pal, Liton Ahmed, Saiful Islam Palash, and Pharmacist Tanvir Hasan.
The defendants in the case include Abdullah Al Mamun, Sakhawat Hossain, Sajjad Amin and Mosha. Fatema Khatun Moyna is still at large.
The relatives of the murdered ASP Anisul Karim said that Anisul suffered from mental problems due to family problems. Anisul was transferred to Mind Aid Hospital on Monday (November 9) around 12:15 pm. Family members allege that the staff beat him to death shortly after he was admitted to the hospital.
Hospital authorities say staff were trying to calm him down while he was behaving rudely. A video of the beating was released in the aggressive administration room of the hospital after the incident.
As seen in the video, Anisul Karim was dragged by 7-8 people into a room after entering the hospital. There he was thrown to the ground. The hospital director, Arif Mahmood, was with them. Anisul Karim was hitting both elbows on the head. Anisul Karim’s hand was tied behind his back with a piece of cloth. When he was face down four minutes later, he slowly passed out and passed out. Police first arrested six people in the incident on Monday night. Another was later arrested.
Anisul Karim, a 33rd group student from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Sciences at Jahangirnagar University, was appointed a police officer in 31 BC. Anisul, father of one, lives in Gazipur. More recently, Anisul Karim was the Deputy Commissioner of Traffic in the Metropolitan Police of Barisal.
