Hundreds of thousands of people have flocked to the Darul Uloom Moinul Islam Hathazari Madrasa in Chittagong to bid farewell to Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, Emir of Hifazat-e-Islam. Earlier in the morning, Ahmed Shafi’s body arrived at Hathazari Madrasa from Dhaka.

Millions of fans have flocked from different parts of the country since the early hours of Saturday (September 19). The administration is struggling to cope with the crowd. Meanwhile, additional police officers, including platoon 10 BGB, have been deployed to four Chittagong upazilas to ensure the smooth completion of their janaza and general security.

Meanwhile, BGB members led by seven executive magistrates from the Chittagong district administration have been on duty in Hathazari, Patia, Rangunia and Fatikchhari since morning until further orders.

Law enforcement officers have stopped the movement of people from the Hathazari bus station to disrupt the movement of people who came to attend their janaza.

The activities of law enforcement agencies have increased throughout the area. Members of the Rapid Action Battalion and the police force have also been deployed to ensure impeccable security.

Allama Shafi’s body arrived at Hathazari Madrasa from Dhaka around 9am on Saturday. Then her body was opened to the public.

After Johar’s prayers, his janaza will be completed at the Hathazari Madrasa facility. Shafi’s son, Maulana Mohammad Yusuf, will lead the janaza. After Janaza, the eminent scholar will be buried inside the madrasa in the Baitul Atiq Jame mosque cemetery.
