Memorandum of Understanding signed with Sri Lanka

Dhaka: Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have signed six memorandums of understanding to enhance mutual cooperation in various fields.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on Saturday (March 20) in the presence of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The MoU was signed after a bilateral meeting between the two countries.

The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation in youth development.

The Minister of State for Youth and Sports, Zahid Ahsan Russell, signed on behalf of Bangladesh and the Minister of State for Rural Housing and Construction and Building Materials Industries, Indika Anuruddha, on behalf of Sri Lanka.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) and the Sri Lanka Agricultural Research Policy Council (SLCARP). The MoU was signed by the Minister of Agriculture Abdur Razzak on behalf of Bangladesh and the Minister of State for Batik, Handloom Fabrics and Local Apparel Products, Dayasiri Jayasekara, on behalf of Sri Lanka.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Bangladesh Directorate of Technical Education (DTA) and the Sri Lankan Vocational and Tertiary Education Commission (TVEC) in exchange for technical assistance. It was signed by the Minister of Education, Dipu Moni, on behalf of Bangladesh, and the Minister of Education of Sri Lanka, GL Paris, on behalf of the country.

The Government of Bangladesh and the Government of Sri Lanka signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the training of Bangladeshi nurses and health workers in Sri Lanka. It was signed by the Minister of Health Zahid Malik on behalf of Bangladesh and its Minister of Money and Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Neward Cabral on behalf of Sri Lanka.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies and the Lakshan Kadirgama Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies in Sri Lanka. It was signed by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Shahriar Alam, and the Minister of State for Regional Cooperation, Tarak Balsuria, on behalf of Sri Lanka.

The governments of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka signed a memorandum of understanding on cultural cooperation. It was signed by M Badrul Arefin, Secretary for Cultural Affairs on behalf of Bangladesh and Gamini Sedara Senarath, Secretary to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

Earlier, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the prime minister’s office at 10:45 am.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina welcomed him at the Tiger Gate of the Prime Minister’s Office.

First, the two prime ministers sat in a private meeting. After the private meeting, they held a bilateral meeting with the representatives of the two countries.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in Dhaka on Friday (March 19) morning to attend a function marking the centenary of the birth of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Golden Jubilee of Independence.

On the first day of the visit, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka attended a function in the National Parade Square at 4.30 p.m. to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden anniversary of independence. .
