MC College Dormitory Gang Rape: Housewife Statement in Court

A housewife who was gang-raped in the dorm at Sylhet MC College has given a statement under section 22 in court. He testified in the courtroom of Sylhet Metropolitan Judicial (Third) Judicial Magistrate, Sharmin Khanam Neela, on Sunday (September 26) at noon. The tortured housewife gave details of the incident in her statement.

Previously, the case’s investigating officer, Shahporan Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) Indranil Bhattacharya took the abused housewife to court from the OCC center of MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Later, the court recorded her statement in section 22. The matter was confirmed by investigator Indranil Bhattacharya.

Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, police arrested Saifur Rahman, the number one defendant in the gang rape case, from Chhatak.

Said the Chhatak Police Officer in Charge (OC). Mizanur Rahman confirmed the information, saying that a police team led by SI Habibur Rahman arrested Saifur Rahman on the basis of secret information as he fled through the area adjacent to the Chhatak ferry on Sunday morning.

Earlier, Sylhet District detectives arrested Arjun Laskar, number four in the case, from the Mantala area of ​​Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj District around 8 a.m. Two defendants in the case were arrested. The two defendants were trying to flee to India through the border area, police said.

The husband of a gang-raped housewife filed a case with the Sylhet Metropolitan Police Shahparan Police Station on Saturday morning charging three unidentified people, including six mentioned in the incident.

The defendants in the case are M Saifur Rahman, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Tarekul Islam Tarek, Arjun Lankar, Rabiul Hasan and Mahfuzur Rahman Masum. Four of them are students at that university. In addition, three people have been charged without identifying. They are supporters of Ranjit Sarkar, former secretary for youth and sports of the Awami League of Sylhet district.

The police launched an operation to catch the accused immediately after the incident. Police recovered a tube gun, four photos, a knife and two iron tubes from Saifur’s room around 2 p.m. Friday. Shahporan police brought a case against Saifur Rahman under the Gun Law.

A stay at home mom went to visit MC College with her husband on Friday afternoon. In the evening, 7-8 BCL leaders and activists took them from the university to the dormitory. Then the two of them were beaten. At the same time, they gang-raped the wife in front of her husband. Upon receiving the news, the police rescued the couple from the bedroom at night. The raped woman was later admitted to the OCC center at Osmani Hospital.
