Mass rape in MC College dorm: 3 BCL activists testified in court

Saifur, Arjun and Rabiul, defendants in the rape case, were brought to court on Friday afternoon after a five-day pre-trial detention. In the afternoon, the police from Shahparan Police Station presented the accused at the court premises under strict security measures.

Earlier, Saifur Rahman and Arjun Lashkar, the main defendants in the rape case, were detained for five days on Monday afternoon and the same day in the afternoon. That day, a judge from the second court of the Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate granted them a five-day preventive detention.

Meanwhile, the defendant Rajan Ahmed, Ain Uddin and the defendant Muhibur Rahman Rony, the defendant Tareq No. 3 and the defendant Mahfuzur Rahman Mashum have also been arrested in the case.

On September 25, a girlfriend was gang-raped while visiting her husband at MC College. At around 8:30 pm, the BCL leaders and activists forcibly took the girl from her husband and raped her in the bedroom. Her husband was tied up in the bedroom at the time.

The victim’s husband filed a case at the Shahparan Police Station. Three other unidentified leaders and activists of the Chhatra League were charged in the case. The defendants in the case are MC College BCL activists Saifur Rahman, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Mahfuzur Rahman Mashum, Arjun Laskar, BCL expatriate activists Rabiul and Tareq Ahmed. The other three defendants in the case are unknown. A total of six people, including six accused, were arrested and placed in preventive detention for five days. Another defendant has not yet been arrested.
